Your point regarding the "Nappy Hair" is understandable. Your pointregarding "niggardly" is and is not. No one analyzes every word he says before he utters it. He probably was just used to applying the English language in the way he knew it. Possibly, he should have thought about it, but he did not.
The real scandal is the totally ridiculous way in which our new mayor handled the issue. He should have stood by his new employee, privately asking him to be more careful about his choice of words. He should not have accepted his resignation and the employee should not have submitted it. Now, he should be reinstated into his previous job and apologized to in public. This new mayor is off to a very troubling beginning if this is the way he handles controversies such as this.
Yes, you should be allowed to use the words queer, fag etc. in their proper English context (Editor's note: I agree, but I am too much of a coward to do so. I needs my J-O-B.) No, you should not lose your job either for merely employing the English language.
If I can remember it, I will show you the letter I cosigned with 23 other residents of this city to the mayor of Washington. This letter, written by my friend **** has been quoted on ABC News, The New York Times. He was even on WOL Radio discussing the issue two days later. I will be interested in your response. It is likely on the GLAA website, www.glaa.org.
This is just immediate reactions to one reading of your comments on your website. Perhaps, I will have more comments later.
I like your website and intend to read more of what you have put on it.
